2 course breakfast

Yesterday was a long day. The assessment was fun, but long, and mentally tiring. I did my best, and I leave the rest to God.

Lunch was a buffet! That was really good because I didn’t expect that.

This morning, I had a good run before breakfast. (What!) Yes, I read in a health mag that it was ok to do so, and it saves me SOOO much time. I didn’t break down or anything, but I guess my brain was “Telling” me I’m tired, but when I’m not.

Breakfast was a 2 course thing. First:

While waiting for by toast to toast and coffee to press, I had me a good source of protein – 2 eggs, scrambled,  topped with salt.

Coming up was the prepared coffee, with my toast, and a good helping of kaya. Unfortunately, I finished the lemon tree one so I’m stuck with this kaya from Little Cravings at 1 Utama.

I’m off to run a few errands during lunch!

yogurt parfait

Yogurt + Granola =

I used a French yogurt, which name I can’t remember. The BF brought is back from his flight. I think it’s Elle & Elle, something like that. I’ll promise to take i down the next time around because it’s soooo good. Creamy and the right amount of sweetness, plus, sugar is not the first, but around the fifth ingredient on the list unlike other brands. Sadly this would set you back about RM5 here in Malaysia. I layered it with some Buckwheat granola which I found from KERF!

Perfect mix for textures!

Had me half of this Cafe Vanilla I got from Coffee Bean after topping up my Coffee Bean card. Yummy, but nothing beats freshly brewed.

Hit the treadmill after two hours, and thus, lunch.

If you noticed, I missed my post for yesterday’s dinner, but here’s a glimpse. White carrot (known as parsnip) soup with free range chicken. Made with love by grandma. Yum. Orange carrots added would have made it even better! I had this small leftover bowl for lunch.

Of course, you need a balance of carbs and protein. Bread sticks (Bread was Low GI bread from Baker’s Inn which I love as it is delicious, healthy and RM4.20!!) slathered with Kaya (kind of the Malaysian version of coconut butter, except that it has eggs!), on one side, and i flipped it and spread it with margarine. You see, I realise that whenever I spread margarine or butter on my bread, and top it with another spread, I can’t taste the “fat spread” which I think wastes the idea of even putting a “fat spread’. Thus, spread the bread both sides!

A scrambled egg. It was too sweet for me, I think Nesvita’s milk (I’ currently have) is a tad sweeter than the regular, which means it’s not too good for scrambled eggs, but fine for french toast.

Waiting

Sorry for the delayed post. While waiting for the BF during his 10pm exam at KLIA, I read blogs on his lappie. Since I’m so used to the Windows Live Writer, I didn’t blog. Dinner was a “Dancing Chicken” (I think that’s the name) sandwich from the airport The Bakery (there’s a branch in Ikano)

Sad that it wasn’t fresh though. It’s all made already unlike the branch in Ikano. RM9.90 with 10% off (the BF’s staff price). It was fine, but don’t think it will last long. It won’t because the BF dropped it when we got into the car on the way home. 😦

I brought it to McD’s since that was one of the few 24 hour joints at the airport. I couldn’t resist some fries! I asked for small, the BF thought medium was the smallest! Lol!

We got home pretty late, but it all ended well as he passed! Thank God.

This morning, the BF had to work – flying to Kunming. Breakfast was by my lonesome self as gramps left the house early as usual.

T-1 day

Today, is officially one more day to my trip to Bali. Note that I will be MIA between 3rd – 7th!

Brekkie this morning was with the BF (By the way, I didn’t manage to stay up. I was too bored!)

This is the reason why I never eat cakes, and prefer cereal or oats. It feels like it’s not enough although the cals are surely more! So i had a cookie!! Brown butter cookie i made recently!

Watched some TV and worked out.

Lunch followed suit. Since gramps were out, i made my lunch: Luncheon meat sandwich (leftover luncheon meat)

  1. toast the bread
  2. spread mayo on the bread.

3. Layer on some salad leaves, and then the luncheon meat, as many or much as you like

4. OK, this is my preference. I decided to open the jar of wholegrain mustard to try. So i spread it on the other piece of bread (I used High 5 Wholemeal)

Why is it on a rack you ask? To prevent the water vapour (as a result of the heat from the toasted bread) to soggy-fy the bread.

Now, lay the mustard-ised bread on the other layers. And EAT!

The mustard gave it a really tangy flavour! It’s a bit weird, but i just really wanted to try!

You are the apple of my eye

Kicked off breakfast with an apple while waiting for the BF! It’s amazing how some guys take a longer time to get ready than a girl! SDC11703

We went to Friend’s Cafe in Kepong for breakfast. I’m not a big fan of this place because I find the food unappealing. But the BF claims the Teh C is really nice.

I had the Teh C special, it was alright.

Everything was so chinese for breakfast, so i went with a PB French toast, and it failed. Fine, it was loaded with peanut butter, but it wasn’t eggy enough, plus, Yut Kee’s is tons better! I ate.. half?

Came home, I’m not sure what we did, but time sure flew by and soon enough, I was preparing lunch. Well, the Bf helped! I prepped the veges, he prepped starch and protein.

I made a warm salad of 1.5 green peppers, yellow & red plum tomatoes, one onion and mushrooms courtesy of Akak Jean.

Tossed them with OO, S&P, Oregano.

Had a dab of butter here and there too..

Sadly, it was not as good as i hoped it would be. It wasn’t cooked long enough i supposed. And the mushrooms had a bitter taste. Anyone has any idea on that? Is it because it wasn’t cleaned well enough?

This was baking in the oven at the same time. Tesco chips. Somehow, this didnt’ work though it worked before. As in, it didn’t turn brown enough. I still prefer the Tesco oven chips.

I heated this up too. Something from the vegetarian shop a while back (don’t judge!). It wasn’t too good. So chewy! (I’m not sure what this is called, in case you’re wondering)

The BF’s scramble. Two tesco sausages, 2 eggs (i presume) and mushrooms. Was alright. Bitter taste of the mushrooms weren’t around in this dish.. hmm.. Tesco sausages are not too shabby mind you! They were pretty good!

The BF is napping for his night shift tonight, and i’m planning on a run after he leaves!

Trying

I’m really trying to increase my speed or distance for running. But it’s only trying. I’ve not accomplished. 2 factors: Time, stamina

This morning, got up at 5am (which is not easy) to have 2 weetameals before my run. i got running at 6.

21 mins @ 9.4 km/hr

I have no time even to do some weights! That’s unless i get up earlier, which is close to impossible!

Anyways, breakfast was Overnight oats. I tend to have oats after my run as it’s GOOD fuel.

I still haven’t started on my French press. That’s cos i’m not sure if the ground coffee i have at home is considered finely ground or coarse ground. Apparently it could get clogged up if i use the wrong kind of grind. So coffee was had at the office.

Work Work Work! Am so glad that i don’t have to think about work in 20 days time!

Lunch was had with two friends, Jade & Pravin @ Penang Flavours.

I just had a Lin Chee Kang there as I once again brought my own.

Was a tad sweet to me. Would’ve preferred yesterday’s green bean @ Nonya Colors, but it’s ok. I had company for lunch today, so that made up for it!

First time that i brought a “REAL” sandwich, with nutritious toppings! Normally i bring a PB/Nutella filled one. Canned Salmon in Mustard and dill sauce (which i MUST learn how to replicate as it’s so good!) with butterhead.

Liked it, but i would preferred it toasted or put in the sandwich maker just so that it would hold together better!

Had more coffee at the office. 2nd cup!

Thank God i got to go back at 5.30 today! Made it in time for dinner with the gramps!

SDC11441Grandma wanted to try some new packet sauce. Kurma apparently which doesn’t look like it as its kind of diluted. Oh well. But it was alright. Not my cup of tea though. Too strong cinammon flavour.SDC11443I loved loved loved the cabbage. Yum!!! I also had some of the leftover curry vegetables yesterday, along with a slice of bread.

I may be off to some apple and grapes later!

Bread and butter

Morning!

Had a late night yesterday trying to download the Windows Vista Service Pack. Sadly, it took forever and i decided to hit the sack.

This morning, while waiting for the BF to come back from his night duty, I had a Naner with PB!

Steffi’s Delight (No added sugar)

It was OK. No sugar REALLY makes a difference. I felt that there was something lacking in the PB. However, this is one of the MORE spreadable PB’s. I definitely still miss my Skippy Honey Roasted.. and also Cashew butter!!

Was pretty hungry by the time the BF got home.

Had some bread and butter (toasted on a frying pan-that’s the only way I feel it tastes best!).

So hungry, i forgot to snap a shot. But i can tell you this.

Breakthru bread plus Kerrygold Irish buttah!

Yum. I think i’m a butter convert after trying this technique. Spread butter on both sides of the slice of bread. Place on the frying pan. When one side is brown enough to your liking, flip it. Then let the other side brown again. And you have a butter convert! 🙂

I promised something new last night..

I was so disappointed when Guardian stopped selling EVERSWEETT. i loved it as it had no aspartame. However, not long after, i spotted this at Caring pharmacy! They came back! A tad more pricy now. from RM9.90 to RM 12.90. But worth it because….

STEVIA has arrived! So cool! I’ve been longing to try stevia as i know it’s made from herbs. and now finally, after all this while, it has arrived in Malaysia!! Yay!

SDC11314 I haven’t had a go at it yet though. so no review yet till i finish my Equal.Yes. i was forced to buy a 100 sachet pack of equal when Eversweett ran out. Sad to say, equal still beats Eversweett’s price hands down. Eversweett is double the price! But for my body, why not?
