Big breakfast and many snacks

After a sort of a quarrel, breakfast was Ampang Yong Tau Fu on Sunday! Well.. quarrel cos i had made plans with Gramps EARLY in the week, reminded them a day before, but gramma gladly postponed the plans and accepted others.. sigh.. i kinda felt pushed aside.

Anyway, a decision was reached, and we went to Foong Foong Restaurant in Ampang for Yong Tau Foo..

Yong Tau Foo is basically stuffed vegetables, mainly brinjals, tofu, beancurd skin, ladies fingers, bitter gourds, chillies..

We reached there at about 930 am.. there was already quite a number of tables filled up.. but 5 mins later, people had to wait for their tables. So thank God, we were just in time..

Grampa did the ordering.. so i think you should know it means alot was ordered.

soup5 soup dumplings.. with an unfulfilled request of extra vegetables..

I had two of these.. was quite nice. with some radishes and carrots in the mince meat of the dumping.. The mince pork was tasty..

ytfThis is basically what yong tau fu is.. And of course, i attacked the brinjals! Had 4 brinjals, 1 foo chok roll,  some tofu..

Normally, i don’t eat the stuffing (made out of fish paste), but i ate some cos these were one of the best i’ve eaten. Soft and tasty. I love the brinjals!! Dipped in the sweet sauce given, it was delicious!

The tofu was fresh, and felt homemade.. Was nice, and dear agreed!! I didn’t really like the foo chook.i guess i prefer the flat ones without stuffing, but they don’t serve it here.

I also had a dried beancurd (tau foo pok).. Was soft and easy to bite..

friedMany many many fried dumplings were ordered too.. This is what Foong Foong is famous for!! I love it.. The wanton skin had the crispy edges (which i ate all of from the few leftovers..), and the filling was tasty, and had no pork “smell”.. I had two of these babies..

Don’t worry, we didn’t actually finish all.. but almost.. hehe.. took home the rest..

The bill came up to RM46.50 inclusive of drinks.. The cost of each piece of yong tau foo is RM0.80.. quite reasonable compared so some places charging RM1/piece.

Foong Foong Restoran (鸿鸿酿豆腐)
621-A, Jalan Besar Ampang,
68000 Ampang
Selangor Darul Ehsan

Outside this restaurant (coffeeshop), there are a couple of small stalls selling some goodies.. dear bought us RM20 worth of roasted chestnuts = 1kg, which me and dear finished it throughout the day, thus we didn’t have a proper lunch, but alot of snacks. The chestnuts weren’t as good as the last time i had it though. They weren’t hot, which left me suspecting the guy could’ve sold us previous days ones. and the last time, there was not one which i found difficult to open.. i could open ALL with the chestnuts whole. this time, i had trouble opening most of them.

I didn’t picture what the many snacks i had, but i can name some.. Lots of mixed nuts, a famous amos cookie.. grapes, prunes, honey comb biscuits.. all these besides the chestnuts.. lol..

In between the snacks, we went to Ikea in the afternoon!

And dear managed to transport my Billy bookcase back home!

ikea

Cost RM230.. it’s a limited edition version.. Dear helped me saved RM65 and 5% of RM230 by transporting it for me in his Kenari, and setting it up for me!! Thanks dear! He helped me carry this 35kg, 202 cm flat pack in his car.. and bring it to my room.. and cleared my room for me.. and set it up.. Thanks dear!!

I didn’t do much, in terms of setting it up.. Dear did most/all of it.. hehe..

Had an apple before getting down to “work”.

appleWith my Melrose ABC spread and some additional Jif PB. I think now i can never go a day without my PB/nut butter fix..

By the time we were done with setting up, etc.. took Max out.. it was 740 ish when we headed to Happy City Food court Kepong for dinner.. along with gramps.

I was craving for my O’Chien: Oyster omelette!!

eggThis crispy, fragrant, and egg oyster omelette (O’Chien) never EVER fails me.. RM7 is so worth it though i never finish the oysters.. If only the stall owner would just from the egg only for me.. i would pay RM3 for even two eggs!

Shared some popiah with Grandma..

opopiahIt came in a set of 2 for RM3.50. A wrap filled with sengkuang (turnip), nuts, beansprouts.. cucumbers, and rojak sauce.. Grandma didn’t finish her portion which dear had to help out cos she didn’t like the nuts in it, unlike me, who loves nuts in ANY dish!

Gramps ordered chicken wings..

wingsRM2/wing.. pretty pricey. but tasty.. I had half a wing.. It’s much drier than the ones i had in Yuen Steamboat, which makes holding it much easier.. but after eating it.. my fingers smelt of chicken wings.. lol..

Grandma was very focused on the Ais Kacang (Shaved Ice)

icekacangI quite like the Ais Kacang in this food court cos it has lots of ingredients, and they’re not stingy with it. Lots of red beans, peanuts, and cincau (i requested for no corn and cendol)..

Dear ordered some sushi for himself..

sushiRM3.50.. i’m sorry, but i loyal to Sakae Sushi.. or Sushi Zanmai..

Grampa ordered a Wantan Noodle in soup.. (Thin yellow noodles, in soup with pork slices [char siew] )

No, i didn’t forget to take a pic of my usual mixed rice.. There wasn’t any brinjals left!!! That’s the main reason i eat the mixed rice.. so i didn’t have any.. was kinda disappointed.

Sorry for the long posts for the weekend.. I promise i’ll get back to usual posts asap..

After dinner, we went to meet dear’s bro to get mooncakes!

Hehe.. more mooncakes to eat..

Finally, i’m done with the weekend.posting i mean.. i wish weekends lasted forever..hehe. i’ll update on today later..

Sorry

I know i’ve been MIA for like a day or two.. i know for my friends, it’s nothing, but for the food-blogosphere, it’s something! So sorry, have been so busy and i normally have no time to blog when dear’s around. Have to spend time with him since i do not see him as often anymore..

Anyway, i’ll continue from where i stopped.. Went to dear’s new place to help him move some stuff. moving to a third floor apartment is tiring.. But we only brought SOME of his stuff. He dealt with the big stuff, and i with the smaller bits.

By the time we were done, it was almost 1-dear left some stuff at home..

headed to Section 14 cos i wanted to go to Digital Mall..

But lunch was first priority.. we were hungry buggers..

I found this place reviewed by several bloggers before, so i wanted to try it.. Coffee Ritual.. and also cos i’m a coffee addict..

Different than your plain old starbucks (not that i’m saying Starbucks is not good.. i still heart starbucks).. this place has more food options.. Famous for their crepes.. which i had to try.. Caramel Banana crepe

crepeFor RM7, it was too simple to me. but i did like that it was quite sweet, so much so can be eaten on its own.. if i had seen that they had breakfast sets, i’d order that than this.. i did finish the dollop of whip cream.. did not want to waste money.. lol.  I found the banana portion kinda pathetic though.. Wish they served more for such a big crepe.

My choice of coffee was Cappuccino.. with Segafredo coffee..

coffeeRM6.20.. Am really glad that they served low fat milk here.. kudos to that cos not many non-commercialised places do so..

Dear’s coffee took awhile to come.. i did not take a picture of it.. but i got this from their website..

This is what is used to make the coffee.. Kinda Vietnamese style.. Drip coffee.. it’s quite a cool process.. The water kinda boils upwards.. than flows back down.. Then they’ll come to you and pour it into your empty cup, with milk on the side.

Dear chose the Colombian Special which was recommended.. it still kinda reminded me of normal coffee to tell you the truth.. For RM6, i’d pay RM0.20 more for my cappuccino.

Dear had a beef pie..

pieSorry for the disgusting looking picture.. i was hungry, so i kinda forgot to take a photo of his food. But i thought the pie was quite nice.. Beef Pie costed RM10.80 ala carte, but for a bit more, you can upgrade it to a set with a drink. The beef pie had lots of chunks of meat.. I would’ve preferred if the pastry was flakier though. Dear thought it was alright, but said he still misses the Jester pie from Australia (I still have not seen it before).

Overall, i thought the food was quite nice, pricey-ish, but it’s much better than the kopitiam (coffeeshop) food. I definitely will come back for the Segafredo, but not really for the single origin gourmet coffee.. As for service, the coffee took quite awhile.. but i guess they were short-handed. Otherwise, the staff/owner was quite friendly.

Coffee Ritual: No.35, Jalan 14/20, 46100, PJ. Tel: 03 7956 1080

After lunch, we walked ALL the way to Digital mall.. well, it was maybe two rows of shophouses away.. there wasn’t any parking at that hour, so we just walked from Coffee Ritual..

I got my Modulator!!

modulatorNote: I actually got another one for RM45, but i went back today to change because i found out it couldn’t access the MP3 player if the MP3 Player had no battery..

Cos me RM 70.. sigh.. with 1GB internal memory.. This is what you have to spend on if you do not have a CD player in your car. lol.. and am not willing to get one..

And i got a external hard drive!!

harddrive160GB  for RM185.. i don’t want to put all my pictures into my laptop cos my laptop is beginning to slow down.. So this will be my new storage! Yippee.. But i’m SO broke.. wait till you see what i got today (i’ll tell you later! 🙂 )

Went back home, and had a nap.. and soon, it was time for church.

Met Akak Jean and Carol at Rajah Brooke Cafe over at Jalan Kuchai Lama..

Sarawak food!

I saw alot of recognizable items which i had in Bintulu, but no Umai (marinated raw fish)..  😦

There was my favourite 3 layer C though..

teaYum.. could be one of the best i’ve tasted. But too bad they didn’t have the ones with the pandan/wheatgrass flavour like in Bintulu.

Before the food came, i had two bites of sweet potato, which Akak Jean brought supposedly for her detox diet, but she eventually gave in to REAL food! lol..

I had a “kiaw”.. which i boiled dumplings, in a little bit of soy sauce/sesame oil..

kiawWas quite nice. But the last time i had it in Bintulu,  there wasn’t any pork slices.. This was alright.. quite tasty.. gave one each to Dear and Grandma..

Dear ordered Tomato noodles.. essentially called Mee Dawai in Sarawak..

tomato meeAkak Carol ordered one too after seeing it. I prefer this than the one i had in Bintulu cos this was slightly crispier, but it didn’t stay crispy long anyway.. i liked the soup! Nice and tomato-ish! and thick.

Gramps and Akak Jean had a Sarawak Laksa..

curryIt had a smell of some kind of herb.. and color was less orangey than the ones i’ve seen before.. The soup was very thick.. and i felt like there was too little.. it was quite tasty.. but too little. I ate all of the shredded chicken from Gramma’s bowl.. Though grampa “said” it wasn’t that nice at first (which caused Akak Jean to order another bowl of noodles for him.. lol), he eventually finished it cos he said it got quite nice + he was hungry..

kolomeeAkak Carol and Grampa had a bowl of Kolo Mee each.. It’s similar to Hakka dry noodles, topped with minced meat and Slices of pork. Grampa really liked it so much so he’s still thinking about it. He said the minced pork was good cos it had no “smell”. but i helped him finish his sliced pork cos he doesn’t really like lean meat..

The bill totalled to about RM70 ish.. inclusive of drinks.. Twas alright, but of course, not as cheap as what you would fins in Bintulu! lol..

Rajah Brooke Cafe: No.19, Jalan Kuchai Maju 8, Kuchai Entrepreneur’s Park, 58200 KL. Tel: 03 79833264,0123753990

No, we did not miss dessert.. lol.. we went to Xuan Music Cafe nearby cos we heard there’s a band playing nightly there..

Since the band only starts at 9pm, we had a few drinks, and dear still had stomach for more food..

sandwichI know.. bad pic cos of bad lighting..

Dear got an egg sandwich.. i thought it would only be one sandwich, but there was too.. and surprisingly, instead of mashed hardboil eggs, it was fried eggs, which was difficult for me to resist, so i tried some, and had the sides! I love bread “skins”.. Was quite nice..

We ordered a bowl of fries to share amongst us..

bowlThe fries were most probably frozen, but no doubt addictive..

The two singers on the other hand.. were alright only.. Sang a couple of our requests though! eheh.. The guy singer was better than the female cos the female singer overdid it..

Called it a night at about 10 ish and headed back home. Dear was really tired, and we went to bed not long after we reached home..

That’s all for my Saturday.. will update you later on Sunday which is quite interesting! I hope!

Moorthy’s Indian Rice

This post was meant for Sunday, since it was our plan to head to Brickfields on Sunday. Change of plans!

I suggested that we go today.. since it’s the start of my 3day weekend! Woo hoo!

Anyway, after my workout, i had some mixed nuts and went to bathe cos gramma was quite hungry..

We reached Brickfields at about 12pm.. There were already quite alot of people there..

The Moorthy Indian Rice here is good! Gramps have been coming here since my greatgranpa’s time when it was in the old location. now it’s at Mayflower restaurant, Brickfields.

I didn’t want any Banana Leaf rice, cos i knew i would overeat.. so i just stole some of Grampa’s food..

indianServed on a banana leaf, you can have unlimited amounts of vegetables- dhal+radish, potatoes, and cucumber salad.. and unlimited amounts of rice and papadom..

Of course, the fish (which Grampa says is the best), is charged separately.. Total price was RM8, reasonable considering you can have unlimited amounts of veg, rice, and papadom..

I had mixed rice-which was new here.. there were quite a few changes since the last time i came.. was delighted when i saw they had 2 types of brinjals..

mixriceThe brinjals were a tad too oily.. i can’t find brinjals which aren’t.. 😦 The egg was alright.. but this time, my fav part of the dish was not the brinjals, was the fried “coconut/butter” thing… The one next to the egg! I can’t remember what’s it called.. But i took it off a fried chicken/pork dish they were serving! SOOOOO GOOODD!! This plate cost me RM3.50..

Grandma ordered Peter’s Pork Noodle- the other famous hawker stall besides Moorthy.. No pic, but you can have a look at it here, and read the review by boo-licious of Masak-Masak.

We also had a platter of fruits, and i had some pineapple. yum..

May Flower Seafood Restaurant & Food Court
144A, Jalan Vivekananda
Off Jln Brickfields

We then went to Ikea.. again.. i  think we’re one of the few people who go to Ikea more than once a month. lol.. i wanted to get the measurement of the Billy Bookcase to see if it can fit in a Kenari.. It’s 202 cm.. Dear says it can.. so we’ll try!! I REFUSE to pay RM65 to Ikea for transportation-rip off!

Anyway, i bought a large popcorn from Cathay! Today’s one was so good. So much “caramelly” ones. Shared with Gramps.. Was so good…

And bought a couple of things from Cold Storage, and Famous Amos!! 100gm of Chocolate Chip Pecan and 100gm of Butterscotch chip pecan..

Of which i had one each when i got home!

famousamosSo delish! It’s been AGES since i had these!! I think a few YEARS? So good.. i want more!! lol.. i have, but must resist!

Dear’s coming over tonight.. but dinner is on my own today.. i think.. if i even have the stomach for it after eating so much!

Anyway, ta for now!

What’s on top of International BusinesS?

my granola bar of course!

barwas studying IB last night.. left the book on the table till i came down this morning to have a Kashi bar pre-workout.

And a coffee

coffeeTo wake me up.. getting out to workout is not easy.. it’s hardly ever going to get easy.. but coffee helps. 🙂

Worked out the usual with music! Music helps too!

After workout.. had a plum w/banana butter..

plumThe last of the horrible plums! Banana butter made them better 🙂

And a couple of grapes..

grapesThese grapes are the best! HUGE, sweet, fleshy and juicy! Lovely!

And never forget the faithful prune.. I followed gramps for their breakfast at OK coffee shop in TTDI, where i had my other half of this morning’s Kashi.

Oh.. a pineapple too!

pineappleso sweet with a little bit of Asam + sugar powder..

I THOUGHT class starts at 11 am.. but when i reached at 10.55, i noticed the lecturer had started teaching!! Turns out i saw the timetable wrongly, and it starts at 10.30 am! Gramps would’ve killed me if they found out. But the lecturer started late anyways..

Lecturer didn’t dismiss us early.. in fact late! He was rambling non-stop.. i feel it’s more effective reading the book on my own.

Lunch was at Black Canyon Coffee at Centrepoint..

This place has been around for quite a while. The food’s quite nice-fusion food & promoting good health, and it’s reasonable-but not CHEAP. Coffee is good.. maybe 1 or 2 dollars cheaper than starbucks.

It was pretty packed, so food was slightly slow..

sandwich

American Club Sandwich
Ham, roasted chicken breast, cheese slices, lettuce and tomato between three slices of toast.

That’s the explanation i found on the website… Svun’s American Club sandwich. I stole some of the fries! Told you.. put some in front of me, and i’ll have somE! Cheese and chicken seems to make Svun full.. She kept on saying she was full maybe after the 2nd piece.. but she finished it in the end. She claims the fries were old fries.. but was alright..

Pik San ordered a set meal which came with a Tomyam Soup starter and a watermelon juice..

tomyamSmelled great…

Her main course was roasted chicken with gravy..

chicken1A chicken leg-quarter is served with a vegetable gravy, rice and stir-fried mixed vegetables. See here.

Pik San loves the gravy but not the peas! I had the peas! Quite a reasonable portion.. I just notices.. they have nutrition info in the website! So cool!

But i realised my seafood salad cost me nearly 400 cals!!!

salad

Seafood ‘Yum’
Prawns, squid and fish are cooked, then tossed with a spicy sweet sauce, cashews and onions.  Served warm, not hot.

Was nice.. But the fish was slightly chewy.. i asked for extra cashews, and they did give! So yummy.. i was happily enjoying my cashews (fav part!)…This was RM8.90.. And i thought this was low cal..(which is not).. I had quarter of Grampa’s McD apple pie when i got in the car!!

And when we went to KFC to “wait” for Gramma who was at the hospital..i had some fries..

friesAnd three bites of the Alaskan Fish burger..

fish burgerFish burger was alright but grampa prefers McD.. It was bigger than expected though..

So much for a supposedly low cal lunch. So it’s lucky i was kinda late for class after Black Canyon cos i was planning to by ice cream.. but postponed it for tomorrow..

I’ll post about dinner later!

i heart my friends and sushi

Class ended early today! Yay..ended an hour earlier. Turned out the book i’m supposed buy for international business cost RM90.. quite pricey! 😦

Went to Sakae sushi for lunch.

Of course i had to have my Kakiage!!

kakiagePortion seems to have shrunk.. 😦 compared to this time i went.. i wish they would make a portion of just brinjals.. i don’t think they would though. lol

While waiting for Hana Maki, which took a long time… me and Pik San shared a Soft shell crab crepe roll..

softshellHad two pieces.. yummy.. i love love soft shell crab!!!! I heart soft shell crab!

Finally my hana maki came..

hanamakiYummy thick slices of salmon wrapped around rice, and topped with mayo and a sprinkled with orange roe.

Svun had a Chicken Katsu Don.

Svun and her chicken katsu don

Svun and her chicken katsu don

HAha.. she said it was alright. “Normal only”.. chicken with rice underneath.

Pik San had a Kani Maki..

kani makiAnd other stuff which i did not picture since i did not eat..

Was not that full after that though. Pik San went to get some Gelato which was so tempting-i had a few samples.. 🙂

Walked around and bought a new hairband cos i lost my old one.

Svun was kind enough to drop me off at my car.. had to park really far today cos i was late!! There was no parking in the housing area.. there was.. but far from the gate. so i was 10 minutes late for class.

Since IB is still book-less, i was kinda lost about what the lecturer was talking about-plus he’s the one i don’t really like. sorry to say but i don’t understand him. I know some of the stuff he mentioned i’ve learnt before, but totally forgot! I can’t believe it. lol. i hope i can find my old SAM (South Australian Matriculation) notes..

Came home, finished my trail mix and had some sunflower seeds..

Read a bit of my AFA book-which i still do not understand.. and finished half of my handi-pak i had this morning.

Dinner’s Bak Kut Teh in Aman Puri.. Dear’s working night shift tonight.. sigh.

Ok. Ta for now, i’m gonna read some blogs and study..

Massage

Sorry for being MIA AGAIN!! Anyway, but i promise a complete UPDATE! 🙂

Had breakkie at home yesterday.. cooked for dear but i had a simple Kashi bar for breakfast.

kashiBut with the bar.i had this new Peanut butter!

jifJif peanut butter~i think one of the good reasonably priced ones around! From US.. RM10.99 at Carrefour. Ingredients are Peanuts and sugar, 2 % of other oils. Its yum and seriously FULL of peanuts and so much more easier to spread!

pbI know PB can’t beat like AB or SSB.. but this is cheap thrill!

And a coffee too..

cofI cooked Western breakfast for dear-to prove that you CAN make western breakfast cheaply at home!

Two fried eggs..

eggSunny side ups with runny egg yolks-just like dear’s fav! cooked them separately in the tiny egg-frying pan..

2 sausages..

sausagesNot the healthiest, but a quick alternative. Used Ayamas sausages.. Nuked them till it was warmish and fried it quickly in the pan..

And while doing all that, some wedges went into the oven.

tatersSimplot wedges.. quick and easy. I know i’m not really au naturel.. but this is what happens when noone cooks at home often..

Had a prune.. and some seaweed!

seaweedI know it’s totally random to eat seaweed, but dear had a sudden craving..so i bought some, and we shared some! 🙂

And soon, we were of to our massage appointment at Taipan. It was traditional blind massage- Taiwanese style, along the same row as Pappa Rich in Taipan.

The massage was alright.. I just felt too much rubbing of the skin as opposed to the balinese style. But i felt totally relaxed after! RM35/hour… The number is 0356359211 in case anyone’s interested! Good way to do some charity! 🙂

We met up with Dear’s friends,Goh + Karen at Lorong Seratus in Taipan for lunch..

I got the rojak.. with extra Yar char kwai of course!

sauceless rojak*Reenactment* from the last time.. This time, they charged me RM0.50 for extra yau char kwai compared to RM2 the last time!! So all good!!!

I feel the rojak is quite a small portion though for RM6.50-but its quite good. Sauce is really thick!

Dear and Goh ordered marmite chicken RM8.50

marmite chickenI’m not too fond of marmite-especially pure marmite, which is what the sauce was..marmite which was diluted. For marmite lovers,i guess you would like it. Though the chicken came with the skin on, and as tempting as it was to eat the skin too, i removed the skin and tried some. The chicken was good and moist-well seasoned.

Karen, Goh’s girlfriend, ordered Asam Laksa. I didn’t get a shot-but it looked quite good.

It was raining quite heavily, and didn’t look like it would stop. so we just went of in the rain and i stepped in puddles of water! And we drove our car to…

cincau2Happy beans!!I know you must be thinking i’m mad tot come here two days in a row.. but considering how seldom we are in Taipan, i had to have happy beans for dessert! It makes me happy! 🙂 Dear had cincao with pearls and green beans. I stole some of the sweet syrup.. -we didn’t share.. i had my own dessert! 🙂

redbeangreenbeanRed bean and green bean sweet soup (Thong sui). I know it looks pathetic, but i promise you, there’s abundance of beans inside!! I wanted something different than the cincau.. so i got this! I love that the beans are still intact, and that they give ALOT of beans!! Yum! But i did ask them to add some sugar cos it was not sweet..

After dessert, we headed back to 1 UTama to get dear’s specs checked out.. Turns out, it seems to be okay, except that he has to get used to it.. Then we went to Caring, where dear bought some Blackmores Vitamin B. I would take Vitamin B myself if it didn’t make me hungry. The last time i took Multi Vits, i became hungrier-but i did feel more energetic when running.

And we bought a Roti Boy each.. I got the original one, and as usual, ate the top only.. When we came home, dear finished his-Buttermilk Rotiboy and my topless Rotiboy! Lol..

Had a nap-at least for dear! Lol.. i was reading mail and stuff. Then watched Money No Enough I.. Didn’t finish the show, but went to Darabif for dinner with Akak JEan and Carol..

I’ll update again later! Sorry for being so MIA! I know my blog is a day outdated!

A new find

Followed gramps for lunch, was planning to eat my bar, but they decided to go to Hong Seng coffee shop in Section 17, Road 17/38 i think..to accomodate me for lunch, and knowing that meant brinjals were in store for lunch, i decided bar shall be a snack, later or something..

Was ALSO planning to just have brinjals there, but i say taters fried with curry leaves!

brinjalThis cost me RM1.50..  brinjals were delish as usual! Taters were alright, i still liked it more the first time i ate it..

Grandma ordered choy Keok from the chicken rice stall.

choy keokWas nice, but i think they reduced the portion. Also stole some of Grandma’s char siew cos today, the gave lean ones which gramps don’t really like. Had some boiled peanuts Grampa got from the Teochew Porridge stall along with some really really good salted vegetables (Ham Choy).. Sorry no pic! And half a hard boil egg white.

We headed to 1 Utama cos I wanted to drop by Cold Storage to see if they still had cheap cereals.. Turns out, they didn’t have.. Only Corn Pops.. which i didn’t really feel like having. I prefer Ikano’s Cold Storage. But i did buy Gullon whole wheat biscuits-only RM2.99..

Went to Giant Kota Damansara after that cos we had a voucher to use-Akak Jean gave us a RM50 voucher.. Thanks!

Can’t you tell i love grocery shopping? Don’t you?? Which is you favourite aisle?? I know.. strange question. but mine is the cereal and biscuits! but sadly, in Msia, the cereal aisle is quite short. Dear said in Aussie, it’s like one whole aisle just for CEREALS!

Anyway, look what i found!!

bunchesI was so delighted!! I always love the clusters only, but they never had it until i found this!!! Just Bunches!Akak Carol will be delighted when i show her this. But i think it’s kinda like granola without the fruits though.. High cal to..2/3 cup is 250 cals.. Anyway, i can use like spoonfuls and mix them in my yoghurt, or ice cream!

So happy.. bought a bunch of other stuff and quite a few bulky items.. Restocked on milk too..

Came home.. cut up a plum hoping it would be riper and tastier..

plumBoy.. it just tasted plain weird.. it’s like on the borderline of being sour and tasteless! I’m never buying China plums again.. I ate half and threw the other.. i just couldn’t down it.

Finished my leftover trail mix.. and a prune.. and stole two prawn crackers from Grampa. Grampa bought Giant brand prawn crackers.RM0.99 but i have to say.. i still prefer Tesco house brand.

And now.. i’m onling blogging.. but i should cut down on online-ing since col has started.. but the books for me to read are not with me.. oh well.. room de-cluttering time then!

Ta! Loves.

Barnana

Am posting from college now. cos i feel that when i get home, posting 3 in 1 is not good..makes everything so long.. 🙂

I’ve like a super short break today.. 1/2hour only.. brought barnana to eat!

nanerbar

Hehe.. get it? i should stop doing this right.. combination of words i mean! lol..

Didn’t want to bring my Kashi cos i didn’t have a microwave to nuke it. So i’m considerably still hungry after ating this, but i guess i’ll go home to grab a bite before working out-yes i did not work out this morning!

I can’t believe it! i didn’t hear my alarm, neither did i remember switching it off or something. Must be the new Samsung giving me a headache-i’m still not used to it.. 😦 but i promise i did check that the alarm was on! I woke up at 6.41 am.. and was kinda shocked.. i had no time to run so i slept back and woke up at 7.10am..

Showered and stuff.. then i realised i forgot to complete some of the to-do list items last night! 😦 Like my timetable..

Had a bowl of cereal today!

cereal

I didn’t mix today.. wanted to see how a pure bowl of All-Bran would last me. Topped with some flax seed and almonds/cashews-i toasted fresh ones last night! Yay..

The flax kinda sank to the bottom of the milk, so i didn’t consume it with my cereal..it was in my coffee

coffee

Which i made with the leftover milk.. The allbran is nice to eat cos it’s so tiny, that 3/4 cup gives  you alot to bite! So i t took me quite a while to finish it..

Also had the tiniest naner ever!

naner

Believe it or not, they were green yesterday.. today, they’re ripe and yellow.. boo for unripe naner lovers like me!

Also added a couple more nuts.. which i didn’t photograph! Sowee!

I guess i will fit my run after classes. So far..classes are kinda boring.. BPC was an intro.. and i think the lecturer assumes we know alot-the questions she gave-some she didn’t even mention in her lecture

AFA was boorriingg..not the lecturer’s fault though. the topic was like history of accounting!!

Sigh.. Ok..i’ve gots  ta go now! Ta

Light lunch means heavy snack

I’m sorry this post is gonna be a combination of breakkie and lunch.. am kinda tired now..

Woke up at 5 ish today.. sent dear off to work.. and had me 3 Gullon whole wheat biscuits. Now i figured what it reminded me of… Marie biscuits!

Actually went back for 15 minutes of nap! Was pretty sleepy-and still am..

Ran the usual, but did weights plus sit ups. I really need to improve on my sit ups. It’s bad!Stamina, where are you?

Had the same Special K Youghurty bar as yesterday morning..

barThis time, i managed and remembered a shot on the right sight of the bar… I realised that the description of this bar is not too “healthy”.. everything seems to be “flavoured” as opposed to au naturel.

I can never miss my lovely coffee..

coffeeAnd the pig.. Also had a plum…i REALLY don’t like them!

plumThough they’re slightly soft.. they’re not sweet AT ALL! They’re sour! Never will i buy China plums/plums from Tesco again..

But i still have to finish them.. 😦

Left for college about the same time i normally leave for work (during my internship). Found out that Year 3 Sem 1 begins early Feb-so i can’t apply for the internships! 😦

The subjects for my Sem are the subjects i SHOULD have taken in my Year 2 1st sem, but due to reverse semester, i’ll be taking them in my year two sem2 (this sem..).. So means subjects i’m taking are:

  • International Business
  • Advance Financial Accounting
  • Budgeting, Planning and Control.

The HOD gave us a briefing..i won’t be in the same Tutorial as Pik San for IB.. 😦 But still same as Angeline! AFA lecturer is the same as my Financial Accounting lecturer last sem, while the BPC lecturer is new-i was hoping it would be the same as my last sem Management Accounting lecturer! He’s good. IB are also previous lecturers..

Classes started today! But due to introductory lessons, we were let off early.. 🙂

So i met for Gramps at 11 to go to the bank..

But Kayu, Aman Suria was out first stop..

I was supposed to be a good-dieting girl and have my Kashi bar for lunch, but i had a sudden craving for Roti Tisu (RM5)..

So since Gramma wasn’t planning to eat anything, i told her three of us could share a Roti Tisu-she can never pass it off..

I had a 3 Layer Teh C to drink (Tea).

3layerthe 3 layers consist of tea, evaporated milk, and at the bottom is palm sugar/ gula melaka. Yumm.. but slightly on the sweet side.. It’s fragrant due to the palm sugar.

Grampa had a Mutumayam (Pancake made of rice vercimelli) with dhal-i had the vege from the dhal!

The Roti Tisu took awhile cos their first attempt, it collapsed (Gramma witnessed it!).. But it was worth the wait for the second one~

roti tissueWe asked the waiter (our fav waiter, who was pushed back to drinks duty for abit, and now back to taking orders) to put more condensed milk and less oil.. He listened. It was not AS oily as the last time, but of course, not completely oil-less. it would be impossible for them i think.

I ate quite alot.. it was sweet, crispy.. and so yummy. I liked the parts which were still thick, but crispy!! I know the price is much more than the average Roti Canai, but this is too good to miss..

So skipping my Kashi bar was kind of a bad idea..after my second class (third class was tutorial, so since there were no lectures yet, it was cancelled), i was feeling shiverish. Could also be due to the heat!

Dropped by to look for Mat Tou Yau on the way back, they were there in the pink van! So i got some even though i was dying to go back cos it was just way too hot!

Went to the clinic to get a new dosage of my nasal spray.. and home i headed when i immediately ate my TRAIL MIX before i got my cam out.. also a prune and a couple of tater chips while waiting for my Mat Tou Yau to cool..

mtyYumm! With the usual ingredients.. I think i’m addicted to it yet again. I kinda lost my craving for it at one point cos of the price-RM3.50, but it came back, so i MUST have it whenever i spot it..

It’s been to snacky for me–so it shows you that it’s not good to have a light lunch, cos it’ll just make you snack more!

I don’t know where dinner’s for tonight, but i do hope i can resist the temptation cos i know my Kashi is waiting~

Get this, i was so sleepy while typing this, so much so i stopped half way and took a nap- till dear called.. He’s not coming tonight though! 😦

Ok.. i’ve got other stuff to do.. sorry for being late!

Thai Cuisine-Thai Pan Delight

We had a Thai lunch today.. and i’m stuffed!

Met Akak Jean and Carol for lunch today. It’s still a public holiday cos of Raya..but not tomorrow-for which i go back to uni!! Boo!!

Parked the car at Akak Carol’s and off we went to Jalan Kuchai Lama-the shop is called Thai Pan Delight. I forgot to get the address, but i know it’s around the Nippy Noodle Restaurant we went on Sunday..

The shop does not look really high class, simple decor, but what delighted me was that there were lots of English mags-recent ones too!Me, Akak Jean and Gramma were reading women’s mags while waiting for the food to come..

We ordered ALOT!

First in line was a mango salad..-I’m sorry, i didn’t get the prices, but i know the total bill.

mango

This mango salad, which is similar to Kerabu mangga, was good! much better than Santai’s as it is not to spicy, and not to sour. Balance of flavours. Ample peanuts, and lucky for me, Akak Jean doesn’t like peanuts! Lol.. No Cili Padi to make it too spicy, only red chillies, so just nice!

Next was Grampa’s Pineapple fried rice-once again, he made the wrong call..

pineapple fried riceI had some..i guess it is not full of flavour as Grampa says. He prefers Pattaya fried rice, which is not available. I had a few spoonfuls of rice, the prawns and chicken. I have to say though, sufficient prawns! I also ate all the pickled vegetables! yum! Akak Jean liked the hardiness of the rice..

Granma’s Fried Kuey Teow (Fried Flat noodles) in Thai style was next..

fried kuey teowWith alot of “wok hei” / burnt flavour [essential in fried kuey teow], this was good, though it was different than the Penang style. I had a spoon or two of the noodles, most of the vege, and prawns! I had my good serving of prawns for the day! 😉

i kinda forgot in which order the next few came, i was too busy eating!

We also ordered two pieces of Kembung (Chinese Mackerel) fish..

kembungWith a spicy sour sauce which was appetising, it kept us wanting for more. I didn’t have much fish-but i did attack the crispy head when everyone was done with it. The fish was on a bed of four angled beans, red peppers, and onions.. The sauce was good, so much so when Grampa ditched his fried rice (Akaks & me helped him out with it), he got a bowl of rice to eat with the sauce and……..

kangkungKangkung belachan (Water spinach, stir fried in fermented prawn paste & garlic). I know fermented prawn paste doesn’t sound good, but it’s and all time favourite Malaysian delicacy, which makes any dish taste good, and so was this! So yummy. but recommended to be eaten with rice though, cos this dish was a bit on the salty side.

We also ordered 6 pieces of Thai fish cake..

fish cakeSorry! only got a pic after everyone took their share. Served with a garlic chilli dipping sauce which i think is homemade. Thai fish cake is different than the fish cake used in fish ball noodles.. it’s quite nice and is filled with other ingredients besides fish paste-not to sure what though!

Akak Carol got a Thai Ratna..

Thai RatnaIt was flat noodles, in a thick gravy, fried along with squid, prawns and vege. I had the prawns too! Akak Carol is weary of her cholesterol, and i think i should be too, considering how much prawns and squid i eat! This dish reminded me of Wat Tan Hor (a Chinese dish), which i’m not a fan of, which made me not a fan of this either, slightly on the bland side.

The papaya salad came last.

papayaThis seems to have more ingredients than the mango salad, but i actually prefer the mango salad more. The papaya was too raw for me. I loved the peanuts though!

This was actually what we ordered the FIRST round.. The second round of orders order was a plate of fish in tamarind sauce.

fish tamarindI have to admit though, though we were full, this plate was clean at the end of the meal! The sauce was delish! So yummy, and slightly sweet. The fish was good, but i only had one piece, and was eating all most of the vege! All my fave vege in a dish. Capsicums and onions.. and fried onions! Fried onions made the dish for me. So fragrant!

And you would think we would not have room for dessert after all the above.. well, it’s my family we’re talking about. There’s no meal (dining out) dessert-less.

I didn’t have any but i had more than the planned few tastes of each of the desserts.

Gramma ordered a simple Thai Coconut-RM4.50

coconutTwas alright. Had a few sips cos was pretty thirsty, and some flesh Gramma scraped for me! Thanks Gramma. But i still love my small coconut-Jogoya ones, available in night markets (pasar malams) for RM2.50.

Grampa ordered a Thai Chendol..

chendolNormally, i don’t fancy desserts with coconut milk..i don’t like the flavour + it’s pretty fattening. but i like the fillings! There was yam inside, so when i found out, i ate some more! Hehe.. Chendol came with yam, green and white chendol, some yellow looking jelly-it could be nangka(jackfruit)..all in a bowl of coconut milk and shaved ice. With some palm sugar (Gula Melaka). The coconut milk was alright to me.. Grampa gave a thumbs up..maybe double thumbs up..

Akak Carol got the Red Ruby dessert.

chestnutmixed before i remembered to get a shot. It is also a bowl of coconut milk, with nangka (jackfruit) and red rubies which is water chestnuts, wrapped with a red gooey layer. Was alright, but i don’t really fancy it. Akak Carol likes the chendol more-after she discovered this restaurant serves chendol!

We also had a sago dessert, which was on the house!

sagoI do not know what it’s called, but this was GOOD! The coconut mixture was much thicker compared to the chendol and red ruby. It had lots of sago (dear, you’ll love the sago!), and some gingko nuts, and also cubed yam.. Of course, i ate the yam..:)

Okay.. i think you guys are full just reading this post! The bill came up to RM92.50 inclusive of drinks. Quite pricey.. I felt the salads were quite small..The fried rice was alright only. but other dishes were good..

We chatted for quite abit and when back! It’s fun to go out with the family and have long chats! So i’m actually grateful i didn’t go to UK!

Came home, i had a prune and finished my trail mix..yes i know.. i’m supposed to be full.. but now.. my stomach feels weird.. Oh well.

Am going to Charasmatic prayers with dear tonight. Wasn’t planning to meet him, but he’s not overtiming tonight. The irony of it. When we weren’t planning to meet, he doesn’t need to OT.

Oh well.. i think i better go.. this has been a really long post! Ta!
